Woodhenge, Worth Matravers

The Wooden Henge at Worth Matravers was constructed by the landlord of the village pub, The Square & Compass, in 2015 from 35 tonnes of tree trunks. Standing over 3 metres tall, and 10 across, the monument can be clearly seen from miles around. Due to a complaint to the local planning department, a bit of the usual fuss, and a planning enquiry was held, where temporary planning permission was granted for two years, until January 2018. Unless the landlord, Charlie Newman, wants to build a new one every few years, as he understands that due to the nature of wood, it would need regularly replacing, this virtual tour will be available long after this modern day henge has gone.
